LED lighting for the food industry: Bever Innovations is the right partner for this too!

What do we, an innovative lighting manufacturer, know about food safety? Quite a lot, as it happens! The many impressive smart projects we have carried out in the food industry in recent years have served to hone our knowledge and expertise of HACCP standards and guidelines. Meaning you can rest assured that you will always receive a suitable, food-safe lighting solution in line with the latest requirements.

Project: Grolsch Enschede, NL

Our food-safe LS LED luminaires and Cubiq luminaires are not only easy to clean but also highly resistant to moisture, vibrations and extremely high (+60°C) and low (-30°C) temperatures. In the event of damage, no shards of glass can fall from the luminaire. Moreover, a food-safe, easy-to-clean recessed fitting frame or stainless cap will prevent dust from accumulating on the luminaires. Having our own R&D and production in the Netherlands means we are always up to date. Our products are continuously undergoing further development and innovation, thereby ensuring we are able to dovetail with wishes and requirements in the food industry.

In recent years we have supplied food-safe lighting solutions to such parties as the margarine factory of Upfield SU Nederland BV (formerly: Unilever BCS Europe B.V.) in Rotterdam, a variety of warehouses belonging to shallot, onion and garlic grower Gourmet in Lutjebroek, the head office and distribution centre of Kippie in Poeldijk, the yoghurt factory of Eijssen Dairy in Maastricht, the goods-in room for potatoes of Lamb Weston/Meijer in Kruiningen and the Grolsch Brewery alongside the A35 in Enschede.

Extremely resistant to microbiological, chemical and physical hazards

Our LS LED luminaires and Cubiq luminaires are exceedingly well suited to being used in companies that hold certification for the International Food Standard (IFS) version 6, British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard Food version 7 and HACCP. HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points and pertains to the analysis of a number of critical points to which extra attention must be paid in food production and food storage warehouses. First and foremost, there are the microbiological hazards: the lighting fixtures need to be easy to clean with the right agents to ensure that bacteria, viruses and fungi are not given an opportunity to adhere to surfaces and/or multiply.

Furthermore, the luminaires must be resistant to chemical hazards and cannot give off any toxic substances or contain any fungicides or pesticides that could pose a threat to food safety. Finally, the lighting fixtures should be made in such a way that no glass, sharp pieces (e.g. metal) and splinters will come loose in the event of breakage. We refer to these as physical hazards. The LS LED luminaires and Cubiq luminaires from Bever Innovations satisfy these criteria. What’s more, our Smart technology makes it easy to interconnect our luminaires, divide them up into zones and have them respond to all kinds of trigger.

Visible, safe and energy-efficient

Following installation, our food-safe luminaires will automatically constitute a stand-alone wireless network. They exchange information 24/7 without the need for an Internet connection, and without the need to address or program them beforehand. As well as information about movements, the daylight levels and temperatures are also shared. This allows smart increasing and decreasing of the light level. The upshot is a natural combination of optimum visibility, safety and energy-efficiency, creating opportunities to bolster safety and well-being, efficiency and productivity within your organisation. Interfaces with alarm, fire and building management systems are also possible. Without drastic measures being required.

Predictive maintenance

Our high-quality LS LED luminaires and Cubiq luminaires guarantee a long lifespan of >100,000 burning hours, without loss of light. If desired, the fuel station operator will automatically be notified by e-mail or via the app in the unlikely event of a luminaire failing (e.g. due to some form of impact). Faults can also be displayed in the Bever Innovations web portal, thereby enabling prompt, appropriate action to be taken. Moreover, the energy consumption, burning hours and operating temperatures of all critical fixture components are monitored 24/7. If the temperatures rise above a critical limit, this too is communicated straight away. Thus rendering predictive maintenance a reality.

We would be happy to tell you more about our HACCP luminaires and Smart technology. What’s more, you can see the luminaires in action free of charge if you wish!
